Hi Rob

At the St. Catharines Museum we are using the Barcode module with TMS. Our labels are generated and printed through Label Matrix to two dedicated label printers which are both Zebra GX430t. We use the Zebra Z ultimate 3000T white labels in two sizes 1”x2” and 4”x6” (whatever you do don’t go cheap on labels, our public library did and ended up replacing thousands of fading labels). For movements and inventory we use five Cipherlab 8231 scanners that are mobile and connect to our network via our WIFI through an FTP site. This allows staff to scan a number of transactions and then upload and go to any computer or notebook to then transfer the scanning file to TMS.

Let me know if you have any further questions

Subject: Barcoding

I’m looking into the various barcode systems used by museums to track objects and locations.

If you use a barcode system at your museum, what do you use? If you know the specs and requirements, and have a minute, please send them along, too.

Thanks, Rob Morgan (Baltimore)

P.S. My apologies for cross posting :-).
