Did you assign the securities in the flex field maintenance?

[cid:image002.png@01D2A2F3.78A77A00]

I haven’t set up any for locations, but I have for Constituents and am struggling to get the permissions to happen despite all the various checked boxes AND the users’ group being added here.
There might be a bug, so I have an open help ticket with GS, but no resolution.

Dear Carly

Alas, that setting was already checked, so no joy with that either. It sounds as though our system is not behaving as it should.

Happy to talk about our locations authority if you think it would be useful, but I certainly wouldn’t consider it to be exemplary ….

With thanks and best wishes

Rupert

Hi Rupert,

Ah! I think I was confused a bit on what you were asking//the exact spot for these users to make the adjustments. I think this may be an all or nothing choice, where you will need to give them access:

[pasted1]
Screen shot is of my team's settings, but allowing the token user group the ability to maintain the authority may be what you need to do. I would try it on a test user first, so you may login and see if it allows the access you seek.

Let me know if this is more what you are after! Also I would love to (off listserv is fine) learn about your locations setup!

Best,

Carly

Carly, thanks. I’ve updated the settings, ticking all boxes for the relevant ungrouped flex field in:

• Objects > Object Components > Current Location Transaction > Current Location > Location Flex Field Xrefs > Location Flex Fields

– but, alas, still no joy: the Add and Remove buttons for the flex fields in the Location Authority remain resolutely greyed out. You can’t think of another setting that I might be missing?

With thanks and best wishes

Hi Robert,

We came across this in other areas we are using specialized flex fields. I think the following will get you what you need, but I encourage others on the listserv to jump in if I miss a spot!

In Security Groups, go to:

Objects > Object Components > Current Location Transaction > Current Location > Location Flex Field Xrefs
and
Objects > Object Components > Location History > Locations > Location Flex Field Xrefs

Depending on your use of Home Locations (and whether the above does the trick) you can also go into:

Objects > Home Location Object Components > Home Location > Location Flex Field Xrefs

I believe those are the main areas to check/uncheck, but I would also look at the access to those flex fields via other modules so that you know whether or not you need to also go down the Loans/Exhibitions/Etc trees > Objects > [then the above]. Along the way, you'll see options for Component Flex Field Xrefs. If the above still does not resolve the access issue, you could go that next step deeper with the component options.

Hope this helps, feel free to shoot me follow-ups if anything isn't clear!

All my best,

Carly

Dear colleagues

This should be a basic question, but I’m stumped.

I’ve set up a flex field for the Locations authority, and, because of where it is, chose not to give universal rights to it. So where, in the Config module --> Manage --> Security Groups, do I go to assign rights to it for a particular security group? (At least, I assume that’s where I’d do this …)

Thanks!

Rupert
