Here at the ROM we are in the initial phases of mapping our natural history database fields to TMS. We are keen to make use of taxonomic thesauri and are currently building our own based on our existing taxonomy fields. We use a number of cross-discipline resources, e.g. Integrated Taxonomic Information System, Catalogue of Life, but we also make use of discipline specific resources that tend to be more up-to-date, e.g. Index Fungorum, VASCAN, Catalog of Fishes, Trichoptera World Checklist, etc. If you are using TMS to database your natural history collections and use external taxonomic thesauri, would you mind sharing which ones you use and if you access them through TMS?
