Hi Alex,

The label copy export feature attempts to retrieve one of a few possible renditions for the exported image. First, the primary display image associated with the media record is requested. If the file is not available for some reason, the next request is for the thumbnail from the file system. If that request also fails, then the thumbblob is requested from the database. If all three of these requests fail, then the default "no image found" icon is used.

Unfortunately, there currently is no way to prevent an image from being exported to the template. However, beginning with TMS 2017, the label copy export has been enhanced to respect the functional security setting "Download 4-Original File". If this setting is selected, the primary display image is exported as before; if it is deselected, the primary display image will not be exported and only the thumbnail/thumbblob will be requested. Since there is no way for the application to know if the primary display file is the original hi-res source image or is a lower-res rendition, this setting allows an institution to prevent the source file from being exported and instead for the application to use the thumbnail/thumbblob (which are assumed to be low-res images).

Best,
Ethan

Subject: Label Copy Export 2016

Hi - I'm curious if anyone else has run in to the following issue. We want to enable exporting label copy views for our users, however the exported Word doc or Powerpoint includes a large version of the thumbnail image which is configurable and can be resized. This is regardless of whether or not we've put an image into the actual label copy dataview. This puts our images at risk for misuse and violation of copyright.

Has anyone found a way to export label copies without a thumbnail? Or found a way to restrict the size of the thumbnail that gets exported?

Thanks for any insight!

Alex
