I reported a bug similar to this to Gallery Systems a few months ago. What I found was that security for alternate numbers isn’t unique to the record you are viewing, rather the field inherits the security of the first record you see in your record set and doesn’t change for the remaining records in your record set.

We’re on 2016R2, so maybe you are seeing similar behavior if you’re on the same version.

Check your field-level security settings, maybe. If the overall “edit” box is checked, but no other field-specific edit boxes are checked under it, it means users can see the data, but not edit it. Differences between users may account for different experiences of access.

Subject: Bug with Alternate Numbers

Dear TMS users,

We would like to know if other users are experiencing this problem :

Some users cannot edit or delete an alternate number. However, they have access to do it.

The problem seems to be intermittent. One user mentioned that sometimes, by logging off or restarting the computer, the access is restored. However, this solution is not always effective.

Would anyone have an idea ofwhat might be causing this problem?

Thank you,

Marie-Élaine
