I don't think there is any functional security that makes that menu option unavailable to certain user groups. If you have permission to add a record, then you have the ability to change the number (albeit, those functions are somewhat "hidden-in-plain-sight" by virtue of being menu options.

We faced a similar issue with people copying exhibition records. I cannot keep them from doing it, but with the help of Gallery Systems, I was able to change the menu label:

If you go the route of changing the menu label, remember to change it for the two variations of English (just be on the safe side).

Hi all

Can anyone tell me if there is more than one way to disable the ability to “Change Object Number” from an object record?

I tried just unticking the “Edit” box for Objects>Object Number in the Security Group Maintenance, but whilst this worked it also had the additional effect of preventing users from typing in the object number when creating new object records.

In my mind, used improperly changing an object number is almost as powerful as deleting an object record, which is why I’m trying to keep a better eye on it.

Thanks in advance

Thomas
