MoMSers,
Our partners at MuseWeb Foundation, which provides critical assistance for us in operating all of the elements that make up the Stories from Main Street (SFMS)
project, have just started a monthly newsletter for SFMS that provides interesting information on how many people are accessing content about rural communities that has been flowing from your states to the Smithsonian over the past several years. Most of that
content comes to us from host communities and organizations, primarily through special projects they’ve done over the years, or through the Stories: YES youth projects that have now taken place in 19 states. Since 2011, more than 1,300 stories have been shared
through SFMS and it continues to grow. MuseWeb continues to help us catalog the content, track it, and better understand what it tells us about the communities we serve.
We’re getting more intentional about how we use and track this content. Stories appear regularly on our social media feeds. We used a number of stories in Crossroads:
Change in Rural America, created special playlists on SoundCloud, and we’ve actively shared collections of stories with interested state humanities council partners. Additionally, we can help state partners and local hosts develop touch-screen kiosks for distributing
this content. If you’re interested in exploring content that has come in from your state, please let me know. Or, if you would like to obtain copies of the content from your state for a special project, we’re happy to help with that too.
Have a great holiday week.
Many thanks,
Robbie
