Hi Steve,

Thank you for your response, it is really useful. We are looking at SCCM to deploy TMS. Have you had any issues with this solution, e.g. ODBC connection? Our project manager has not yet been able to work out how to package this successfully? Any info you have on this would be really helpful.

Best wishes,

Jacob

I will chime in, Jeremy 😊.

  1. Smithsonian Institution

  1. In the process of upgrading to 2018 sp1, 10 units/museums/collecting agencies are using 2018, and 3 units are using 2018 sp 1.

In addition to the 13 units, OCIO (Office of the Chief Information Officer) has 3 support staff for TMS, and our DAMS team has 4 users with access to TMS.

  1. Approx. 900 users

  1. Site license

  1. As Jeremy stated, mix of local desktop with Citrix for Mac users and offsite use

1. Name of Institution – Smithsonian National Museum of African Art
2. Version of TMS you are using - 2018
3. Number of TMS users – 43  - but about 10 are rarely used for SI DAMS/IT staff
4. Number of TMS licenses – Site license
5. Deployment solution – Mix of local desktop with Citrix for Mac users and offsite use

I can’t remember the current number of Smithsonian units who use TMS off hand, I think we’re up to 13, perhaps Rob Morgan could chime in he’d know better the SI wide stats. Our TMS is supported by 3 full time staff and then each unit has a database admin type person

Subject: Deploying TMS is your Museum/Gallery?

Hi Everyone,

Tate are looking at new ways to deploy TMS to user’s PCs as our current solution is out of date and will not be compatible with TMS2018 which we are looking to upgrade to soon.

Our IT department is currently exploring a variety of options to give users access to TMS. The options in front of us now are; Citrix which comes with added expenses due to changes in how they charge for licences, App-V which is being touted as the flash new way of delivering applications to users, and a type of thick client installation which will mean TMS will be installed on individual PCs.

So that I can give my colleagues in IT some context to how other clients deploy TMS to their users I thought I would ask here what everyone is using. If you know the details please could you send me your current situation and some background information? If you would like to send the details to me directly then please email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

The information I need is:

1. Name of Institution
2. Version of TMS you are using
3. Number of TMS users
4. Number of TMS licences
5. Deployment solution

Many thanks and I look forward to your responses,

Jacob
