And we have a separate constituent for the person and for the estate. The estate is an "institution" rather than "individual".

Renee -- I'd love to know how people handle couples, particularly as donors. "Gift of Dr. and Mrs Smith" kind of thing.

Afternoon Caitlin,

Here at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, we create a new constituent record for the living constituent as the couple record is no longer valid.  For instance, we have a joint couple record and an individual constituent record because one of the donors is an artist in the collection.

Hope this helps.

Renee

PS – I’m planning a session at CI2020 on these types of constituent issues so feel free to reach to me with your questions, concerns, or issues.

Hello TMS Users,

I am curious how everyone address constituent records when it is a couple and one person has passed away?

Also: when it is a single donor who passes away and an estate is created how do you capture that?

Any and all details are appreciated!
