Hello,
Does your institution implement stop /flagged/forbidden/banned words on their online collections that prevent users from querying on them? How do those words/terms relate to what may still be in the database? I am inquiring on words/terms outside of traditional
"the" ,"a", "an", etc.
Example: An object record has a Geography of 'Squaw Peak Trail, Utah' or a Material of "Squaw
Grass" or an official title of "Portrait of Squaw". Do you include
Squaw on a banned list for querying and leave the Geography /Material/Title as is on the record in the DB; remove Squaw from the DB and replace the term with something else; allow users to search on the term and leave the DB as is; or something else?
You can respond to me directly, or to the listserv.
