Subject: Call for Applications for Starter Kit WORK

Everyone,

MoMS is pleased to announce a call for applications to select five organizations to participate in a 2021 round for MoMS' Starter Kit: WORK exhibition development program. Starter kits offer smaller cultural organizations a chance to develop a long-term local exhibition in association with the Smithsonian. MoMS will provide a content framework and sample design for the exhibition. Selected venues will determine their local work theme, provide local content, and fabricate their project. Participating organizations can keep their exhibitions on display for up to five years. We highly encourage applicants to work closely with their state humanities council. Applications are due by January 8, 2021.

In our 2019/2020 pilot group, we've been working with 10 organizations that have developed amazing exhibitions focused on work history in their communities. With just one exception, all were former MoMS host sites. COVID impacts slowed a few of them down, but they've all done a great job of raising funds to support their fabrication and shown great creativity in their approaches and designs.

Please share the following application with organizations in your networks that you think may be interested in this opportunity. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Selwyn Ramp at [log in to unmask]; 202-633-7711.

Best wishes,

The MoMS Team
