External Email - Exercise Caution

Good Afternoon TMS Users,

I’m reaching out to find insight on how institutions record gallery rotations in the exhibition history field as our staff has expressed an interest in placing this data here. Our staff feels it is important to record when an object was rotated in and out of a gallery rotation or a permanent installation due to exhibition restrictions (light levels).  I’ve suggested they search the location history; however, they find searching this way difficult.  Plus, it does not display with the other exhibitions.

Listed below is our format for capturing an object when it has been placed in an exhibition (single vs. multi-venue).

Examples:

"Honore Daumier: The Heroism of Modern Life," Royal Academy of Arts, London, October 22, 2013 - January 26, 2014.

"Masterpieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art: Impressionism and Modern Art," Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, Kyoto, Japan, July 14 - September 24, 2007; Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo, October 10 - December 24, 2007.

I’m fine with modifying our current format for this need but wanted to see if anyone else is already doing this.  I appreciate the insight from my fellow TMS users.

Have a great day!

Renee
