External Email - Exercise Caution

Dear colleagues

The CIDOC Documentation Standards Working Group would like to understand how much time museum staff spend copying-and-pasting, or retyping, information into different systems whenever they lend or borrow objects. This is to help persuade software suppliers adopt a standard for the interchange of loan-related object data, which, if it is successful, could save thousands of hours a year across the sector in needless copying-and-pasting or retyping.

They have created a short (8-answer) survey to try to answer this question. If you work with loan-related documentation – please do fill it in. You  can access it here. If you don’t work with this data yourself – please pass it on to the teams who do!

The plan is to collate a first set of results in the week before the ICOM triennial, so that they can be presented at CIDOC sessions there; please could you or your colleagues submit answers by close of business on Friday 12 August? Results will also be disseminated via the CIDOC DSWG web page.

With thanks and best wishes

Rupert
