Dear Jennifer,
Our museum just recently went through a major renovation and collections move, and we implemented a barcode project with TMS. I wrote an article about our experience with barcoding, where I tried to describe the different processes, stages, and challenges associated with setting up the basics to implement barcoding for object tracking for our purposes. It should be available here: https://cimcim.mini.icom.museum/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2020/06/2020_April_Bulletin.pdf (pages 9-18).
Feel free to get in touch directly with me if you have any more specific questions and I will try to help as best as I can.
My best regards,
Ana

Hello,
My institution is planning a collections move in the near future. In preparation for it, we’ll be creating barcodes for each item and we plan to use TMS’s barcode plug-in. I’ve not participated in this kind of project, so I’d be interested in talking with people who have done the TMS side of this before. What’s involved? What pitfalls should I try to avoid? I’m interested in a from-the-beginning kind of explanation. If you’ve been involved in a barcoding project before, might you be able to spare 20 minutes or so for me to pick your brain?
Many thanks,
Jennifer
