Museum Database Administrator

 

Location Vienna,  Full-time

 

The museum database TMS (The Museum System/Gallery Systems) is used to record and process the objects of the KHM Museum Association. The database is also used to manage exhibitions and loans, as well as to support research projects. The database's functions are constantly being expanded.

 

In the position to be filled, you will work as a mediator between cultural-scientific requirements and technological possibilities. The TMS team is service-oriented works in a interdisciplinary environment.

 

TASKS:

 

    Maintenance of database structures and data fields.

    Ongoing support and training of users

    Creation and optimization of reports (Crystal Reports/SQL-Server)

    Implementation of interfaces (e.g. Goobi, Citavi)

    Media management

    Enrichment with standard data/controlled vocabulary

    Development of indexing procedures and guidelines

    Data migration and export

    Creation and management of thesauri

    Collaborative work with other departments

    Supervision of research projects

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

    Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of database administration, preferably in museums or cultural institutions

    Excellent knowledge of TMS or equivalent databases (especially museum and/or library databases)

    Good SQL and XML/XSL skills

    Structured, detail-oriented work

    Ability to work in a team, flexibility and reliability

    High level of self-motivation, ability to work under pressure and ability to learn

    Strong communication skills, service-oriented appearance and positive charisma

    Good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken

    Affinity to art and culture

 

WE OFFER:

    Contract basis: Full-time (40 hours per week on 5 working days), flextime (1 year limited, thereafter unlimited)

    Gross annual salary of approx.  € 52,000.00 (all-in agreement)
