External Email - Exercise Caution
Hi Rob,
We have Dutch and English in our TMS. We enter all object information that we share on our collections website in both languages on the application side.
In practice this means everything has two titles, two credit lines, two medium fields, etc. Where it is not possible to add more than one field we use the translations text entry option, for which we have specific rules so the changes can still be tracked.
Our thesaurus has Dutch as the main language and each term has an English alternate term. Let me know if you want more specific examples!
Best wishes,
Sara Swart

Onderwerp: Multiple Languages in TMS
Hello TMS community,
Our new museum here at the Smithsonian, the National Museum of the American Latino, would like to enter data into TMS in English and Spanish. Does anybody out
there have two languages in TMS? Do you enter multiple languages on the application side, e.g., TMS, or do you have the application in one language (e.g., English) and create the bilingual data on the web, i.e., a collections search site, etc. Any ideas
are welcome!!
Thanks everyone,
Rob Morgan
