Hi Michelle

We are using eMuseum, both for our collection and for the catalogue raisonné of Henry Moore’s artwork (see https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcatalogue.henry-moore.org%2F&data=05%7C02%7CTMSUSERS%40SI-LISTSERV.SI.EDU%7C8917d0249c7a49f19f7e08dd1398f751%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C638688269904080689%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=PFUrXFVktDV5bSjik%2BtEsRv0M%2FgrUKAJjpN8PerLxds%3D&reserved=0), and we are planning to extend our use of the TMS data next year. Please do email me if I can help further ([log in to unmask]), and I’ve tried to answer your questions below…
I hope this is helpful
With all best wishes and Happy Holidays too!
Martin

Subject: Inquiry about eMuseum Integrations with Public-Facing Websites

Hello all,

Happy holidays!

We are currently reviewing our integration between TMS and our website, which currently uses eMuseum as the intermediary, and I was hoping to learn a bit more from your experience with using eMuseum.

If you have a moment, I'd love to learn more about:

  1. How your museum has integrated eMuseum as an intermediary between TMS and your website.
We use eMuseum as our sole collections database and online catalogue raisonné. It is running separately to our website, with a number of pre-configured searches as links from our main site. We are planning to integrate TMS data into our website in a much more seamless way next year, and will begin scoping options for this soon.

  1. Any challenges you’ve encountered (e.g., website stability, performance issues, or workflow inefficiencies).
eMuseum has been pretty stable, but we are using GS hosting and need to alert them if the site is offline. They are usually pretty responsive…

  1. Strategies or best practices that have worked well for maintaining a seamless connection.
Using eMuseum and Prism are pretty seamless, but both are prone to downtime – Prism in particular…

  1. Whether you’ve upgraded to a recent version of eMuseum (we’re currently on 5.0.6, considering an upgrade to 6.2.4) and if so, what improvements or challenges you’ve noticed.
We are using eMuseum 6.4.4, and there are certainly improvements over eMuseum 5 – the field configuration options allow us to develop access to data field in TMS a little more easily, but we still rely on GS for most changes
I’d deeply appreciate any assistance or information you have to offer, as your experience(s) could help us make informed decisions about our own approach.
Thanks so much for your time.
Best,
Michelle (marlee)
