The Perry Institute for Marine Science, the Town of Jupiter, and the Jupiter Dive Center are proud to announce the second in our Ocean Talks! Marine Science Lecture Series. This lecture will be Monday, Oct. 3rd, at the Jupiter Community Center (210 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL) from 7-8 p.m. Admission is FREE! "Restoring Estuaries: A Grass Roots Effort" - by Dr. Craig Layman of Yale University. Craig Layman is a Donnelley Environmental Fellow at Yale University. Dr. Layman’s research is focused on describing food webs in tropical rivers and estuaries, and how human activities alter the ecology of estuaries. He is actively working with local community members to identify estuaries in need of restoration, to implement community-based restoration projects, and to assess the success of restoration efforts. Dr. Layman has established easy assessment tools for estuaries and tidal creeks that can be used by your students in doing actual field research. I encourage you and your students to attend. Please share this information with your colleagues and with your students. If you can't make this one, please mark your calendars for the next one - November 7, 2005. A new lecture will be given on the first Monday of every month (except for holidays and then it will be on the 2nd Monday).
