Monday night we had another great turn out for the second in
the Ocean Talks! Marine Science Lecture Series presented by the Perry Institute
for Marine Science and the
Dr. Laurie Richardson conducts interdisciplinary research
into coral diseases using microbiology and molecular techniques to track
pathogens on reefs. Her field research, conducted under water using
SCUBA, includes surveying, monitoring, and tracking of disease outbreaks in
corals. In particular, she has been tracking both short-term and
long-term effects of black band disease and white plague in corals. Her
