This is one of those times when it's a good thing to have more than one
authority to choose from -

Library of congress subject headings will help you :

SOURCE OF HEADINGS: Library of Congress Online Catalog
INFORMATION FOR: Poultry

Please note: Broader Terms are not currently available
Select a Link Below to Continue...
Authority Record
Narrower Term: Broilers (Poultry)
Narrower Term: Chickens
See Also: Cookery (Poultry)
Narrower Term: Ducks
See Also: Eggs Production
Narrower Term: Geese
Narrower Term: Guineafowl
Narrower Term: Turkeys

Or for that matter - you could do taxonomic authorities:

    * Order Gaviiformes - The loons.
    * Order Pelecaniformes - The pelicans, cormorants and others.
    * Order Anseriformes - The geese, swans and ducks.
    * Order Falconiformes - The hawks, eagles, vultures, falcons,
condors and buzzards.
    * Order Galliformes - The grouse, pheasants, turkeys, ptarmigans and
domestic fowl.
    * Order Columbiformes - The pigeons and doves.
    * Order Psittaciformes - The parrots and parakeets.
    * Order Strigiformes - The owls.
    * Order Passeriformes - The perching song birds.

But then I would have to determine if it was crispy or original
recipe...

It is a 17th century Dutch painting, depicting various poultry.
Or, all the works we have which depict a horse.

There is no animal section of the AAT - are you looking to describe a
depiction of a chicken, or have you accessioned parts of a chicken?

Has anyone had any luck with the AAT and animals? When searching for
Horse, all I found for the single term 'horse' was a piece of equipment:
framework functioning as a temporary support.
When searching for chicken, all I found were chicken related pieces,
such as a chicken coup. But nothing that refers to poultry, foul, bird
or hen.
Am I missing the 'animal' section somewhere?
Or, I am trying to get something out of the AAT that does not exist.

Thank you,
