TMS 2010 R2, to be released shortly, includes a data importer that allows you to create new object records from spreadsheets or XML data. The importer also creates new constituents or links to existing constituents, and automatically maintains the correct conxref relationships. I'll be demonstrating the importer in a Webinar soon; those who attended Collective Imagination in April have seen it already.

Best,

Danielle Uchitelle

It would be wise to run the SQL by support at Gallery Systems. They'll know what to look for.

I have imported data into the backend of TMS using SQL. It's not something I recommend, since it is fraught with issues (as you've discovered) - however, sometimes it is the only way to get massive amounts of information into TMS, especially if the data is elsewhere.

Could you post an example of the SQL that you used? It's hard to diagnose the problem, unless we can see what you used, what values you inserted and where.

Subject: TMS SQL Backend Errors

Hello TMS Users,

I was wondering if any of you are importing data into TMS on the backend?
I have run into a problem with trying to import data from the backend into
TMS using SQL. I'm doing some test runs and was able to update the Objects,
ObjTitles, Constituents, and ConXrefs tables on the database. However when
I check in TMS to see if the updates have taken I get an error message:
Invalid procedure call or argument [Error: 5]
[CConXrefTypes.GetConXrefTypes]. The record still show up but I get this
little error message tag and no Constituent information on the screen. I've
combed through the data schemes, tables, and looked at the stored
procedures and I can't seem to find what I did wrong or what needs to be
adjusted. Any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!
