In order to sort records properly also for instance in Location & Movement (i.e. Move>Current Selection>Perform Regular Moves), you should apply the same change to the SortNumber field in ObjectComponents.

And a bit of warning - should you ever need to run Database Maintenance (Update SortNumber), then all your manual changes will be lost again!
