Hello Stephanie,

This is our maiden voyage with Museum on Main Street and having now moved to having the exhibition in place at its second site I can say we are having a grand time! The state scholar that we went with is Dr. Beverly Patterson. She is a folklorist and director of the North Carolina Folklife Institute. Her background includes documenting shapenote traditions in mountain communities of North Carolina and Virginia. She has given presentations at our board meetings and the programming meeting. She has also advised our MoMS initiative on various other levels. A folklorist with musical interests is a good bet!

Subject: New Harmonies Scholar

Hello all,

Our state is hosting New Harmonies in 2012, so I'm in the process of searching for scholars and host sites. For those states who have already had the exhibit, is it best to look for scholars with Music Ed. backgrounds or is there another discipline I should be focusing on?

Thanks for your help!
Stephanie
