*Please note, the Council offices will be closed from December 22nd –
January 1st for winter break. I will be away from my desk starting on
December 20th and returning on January 3rd.*

*The president’s budget proposes the elimination of the National Endowment

to protect funding for your North Carolina Humanities Council.*

*Although the NEH is a mere 0.02% of federal spending, the agency is
charged with preserving our nation’s heritage and expanding access to
America’s diverse cultural and historic treasures. The loss of NEH funding
would jeopardize the Council’s more than 40 years of work preserving and
sharing the stories that bring NC's rich culture and heritage to life. Act
today to preserve NEH funding for NC

To our council partners,

We are delighted to share the attached photo with you of the moment last
Thursday when the MoMS team received the Smithsonian Education Innovation
Award from Secretary Skorton. In our remarks we said that our success in
impacting students and communities is only possible through our partnership
with state humanities councils.

We are deeply grateful for the work you all do on behalf of MoMS in small
towns across the country. This award is an affirmation that the work we are
doing together is making a difference.

And, we can now refer to MoMS as an award-wining project!

With warm regards and grateful hearts,

The MoMS team at SITES
