Museum Textile Services and the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation
studies are pleased to announce a new, three-day workshop on *Safe Display
of Flat Textiles*, which will be held at the *JFK Presidential Library and
Museum* <http://www.jfklibrary.org/>*, **Boston, MA,* from July 29-31, 2014
Get 20% off until June 20th with the coupon code BASIC2014 or 10% off
thereafter with the code NEWSLETTER10. This workshop is designed for
collections staff and conservators seeking additional training. Students
must have excellent hand skills and experience working with museum
artifacts. Sewing skills are preferred but not required. The three-day
workshop will begin with choosing textiles that are good candidates for
display. Basic documentation and surface cleaning will then be taught.
Attendees will learn hands on how to create a slant mount and a pinable
mount for display of small to medium-sized textiles. Magnetic and Velcro
hanging systems will then be created for larger textiles. Other display
solutions, such as pressure mounting and framing, will also be presented
for comparison. This workshop is one of the first in a series offered by
the Campbell Center away from its Mount Carroll, Illinois, campus. Tuition
and materials fee is $590, and DOES NOT include lodging or meals. For more
information about this workshop, please contact Camille Myers Breeze
<[log in to unmask]>. To register, visit the Campbell Center web page
at www.campbellcenter.org.
