I don't think they are there. Yep, you could produce a View, or link
tables in Crystal, write a report and get at the terms - but the
requirement is something like, ' find all objects that are classified as
paintings and that have a related media record with the term cracking'.
Without being able to query on terms, there's much less value in
recording them. Whilst you can find out what terms are related to e.g. a
conservation image of painting, once you've found the object record, via
a report (or by visual inspection), it's not possible to find that
object record using the term as a search criterion.
By the way, are you linking conservation images to the control under
conservation line items, or to the control on the main object screen?
We'll probably look at doing both in a pilot. In 9.2 we could add
conservation images to 'line items' and record terms at the 'condition
record' level and the terms would be query-able from within Objects
module. But, it's restrictive. We'll be looking at how we use/implement
the expanded conservation record shortly - i'll post whatever we come up
as we go along. Looks good!

That's odd - I just took a cursory look and don't see Media's
thesxrefs in the query groups for Objects. I imagine you could get at it
with a Crystal Report - at least then they could get a summary of all
such information for any given set of object records. By the way, are
you linking conservation images to the control under conservation line
items, or to the control on the main object screen?
We're in the early stages of new and improved conservation data
entry with all the new fields available on the TMS 9.2 conservation
screen. Has anyone else developed data entry plans/reports in that new
screen yet? I'd love to talk to anyone who has!

Hi Sarah
Right, yes, that's do-able. But, what we're after is querying on
terms recorded against Media records from within the Objects module -
which I don't think is. Certainly it's not in 9.15 - and don't think it
is in 9.2 (we're very close to upgrading...).
Cheers

Oops! I left out a step. In DBConfig, you should look
for "Terms" under "Available Hierarchies", "Objects", "Object
Condition", "Attributes", and finally, "Terms."
Good luck!

Hello Suzanne/David
A developer could write a script to insert media records
in batches. But, we'd also find it very useful if a plugin could be
written to handle batch media record creation. A good candidate for a
bit of automation.
On a related theme, are you recording terms with images,
via the thesarus? This something that we're looking to do and will
shortly begin a pilot with conservation, using our own trial set of
terms. However, as far as I can work out, it's not possible to query for
terms related to media records from within the Objects module. This
limits the usefulness of recording terms - conservation would like to be
able to do things like: search for 'paintings' in the 'Rousseau'
exhibition with images that illustrate 'cracking' etc from within the
Objects module. Or am I missing something?!

Thanks David,
I have been agonizing about this.
I'm adding each page from many years of sketch
books! There has to be a simpler way.

Suzanne,
I wish there was a quicker way. Even with the
Image conversion program that moves and formats groups of image files to
the server from your workstation, it still takes 23 clicks for each
image.
My users are complaining loudly about this
tedious method for linking images and thumbnails to TMS.
This is a good opportunity for someone to write
a TMS plugin to automate this process.

Hi all,
I figured out it takes about 23 mouse
clicks to add one image and its thumbnail to TMS. I know I'm going to
get carpel tunnel in my clicking finger if I can't figure out a better
way. I seem to recall that it is possible to upload images in some kind
of a batch mode? Can anyone help me? I'm taking about 100 - 1000 pix
each day and need to get 'em in there quickly after I rename all the
files. Not counting the file renaming - I am clicking 2,300 to 23,000
times a day - ouch.
Thank you all.
