Dear all,

A brief overview of the recent UK and Ireland TMS User Group Meeting hosted by Tate on 7th November 2013.

Thanks to Sascha and Jon for organising the meeting and to everyone who attended. It was a great turn out with representatives from Tate, the Art Fund, National Gallery Dublin, The National Gallery, Aberdeen Museums & Galleries, the Arts Council Ireland, Southwark Arts & Heritage Service, Henry Moore Foundation, Leeds Museums & Galleries, Citi Group and Cumin Collection. Also a special thanks to Jay Hoffman for travelling over to London to present at the meeting.

Following the usual introductions, Courtney Brebbia and Diane Hall from Tate kindly gave an update on the project to publish Tate's archive collection to the web via TMS. Following this, Aimee Frodsham, also from Tate, presented an overview of "FaciliTATE" - Tate's application to support exhibition planning and development in TMS. Alison Fraser then introduced us to the Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum collection store project and showed us their exciting plans for the renovation of the building.

Jay then presented an overview of TMS 2014's new features and the developments for TMS' Conservation Studio, in addition to highlighting the web-based direction that Gallery Systems are moving toward. It is clear that everyone is looking forward to the release of the new version! Concluding the User Group Meeting was Jen Kaines with an update on Leeds Museums & Galleries' TMS related projects which includes a complete overhaul of their website and approach to copyright.

The meeting and agenda stimulated some interesting discussions during the "Ask GS" session and, overall, the day proved to be an interesting and useful chance to reconnect with other TMS users in the UK and Ireland!

The next meeting is scheduled for Spring 2014.

Kind Regards

Madeline and Courtney (the TMS Office at Tate)
