Diane,

We don’t record object or accession numbers in the Media Records. We link all media to records in the various modules. Then we use the related feature to see the records to which the media is linked.

Linda – Where/how do you record any object numbers/ accession numbers of the objects in the Media Record? That was one of a couple stumbling blocks that I had to using TMS as a DAM. I haven’t been able to come up with a good solution for a field to use that would be easily searchable and intuitive to infrequent users.

Elizabeth,

At MFA, Boston, we catalogue all of our media in TMS (both digital and analogue). Currently we have 472,737 media files. They include professional object photography, MFA events, gallery and exhibition photography, images of constituents, packing and shipping images, curatorial snapshots, old registration photography, and conservation photography and documentation. File types include digital images, Excel and Word documents, PDFs, Quick time movies, audio files, video files, and so on). All media files are linked to records in one or more of the Modules in TMS.

Morning All,

I was wondering if anyone out there used TMS as their institutions Digital Asset Management tool? Any thoughts on its effectiveness and any other systems you might be using would be a huge help.

Thanks!
