1. J. Paul Getty Museum

2. TMS 2018

3. Users fluctuate with interns/special project staff, but we typically have between 200-240 users at any given time

4. 50 licenses - concurrent usage usually hovers between 25-45 users

5. Here's the summary I received from our technical group:

For PCs, we use Novell Zenworks to deliver the TMS application to over 200 desktop computers. We bundle the installation files and make them available on our network. Then, based on a set of rules, the installation bundle will be executed. Note that we can install not just the core application, but also include additional files (like custom graphics) or custom INI configuration files. Finally, Zenworks is used not only for new installs, but also for upgrades where we uninstall the previous version and install the new version.

For Macs, we have TMS 2018 installed on a Windows server, and use Remote Desktop Services to serve up TMS as a "RemoteApp". Then, on the Mac computer, we configure the Microsoft Remote Desktop app (must be version 10.x) to connect to the Windows server to launch the RemoteApp. We use Jamf Pro policy to deploy the RDP connection configuration files to the Mac computers.

  1. Harvard Mineralogical & Geological Museum
  2. TMS 2018
  3. We have interns that fluctuate the number of users, but we have 7 permanent users and an untold number of interns that fluctuate. When we updated the database to 2018, we deleted several users.
  4. 4 licenses
  5. Harvard set up Citrix for us as it was already used to deploy lab software. We just piggyback off of their system.

Subject: Deploying TMS is your Museum/Gallery?

Hi Everyone,

Tate are looking at new ways to deploy TMS to user's PCs as our current solution is out of date and will not be compatible with TMS2018 which we are looking to upgrade to soon.

Our IT department is currently exploring a variety of options to give users access to TMS. The options in front of us now are; Citrix which comes with added expenses due to changes in how they charge for licences, App-V which is being touted as the flash new way of delivering applications to users, and a type of thick client installation which will mean TMS will be installed on individual PCs.

So that I can give my colleagues in IT some context to how other clients deploy TMS to their users I thought I would ask here what everyone is using. If you know the details please could you send me your current situation and some background information? If you would like to send the details to me directly then please email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

The information I need is:

  1. Name of Institution
  2. Version of TMS you are using
  3. Number of TMS users
  4. Number of TMS licences
  5. Deployment solution

Many thanks and I look forward to your responses,

Jacob
