Hi,

We also use Alternate Numbers. We capture the permalink as the alternate number and assign the source as the description. We do this with VIAF as well as other name authorities, such as ULAN and Library of Congress Authorities, etc.

We pull the URL/source in our API, and deliver it alongside our objects data.

Cheers,
Marin

Jeffrey, Sylvia-
We do use the AltNums field, but are using it in a somewhat unintuitive way in order to accommodate URLs of any length:

The URL goes into Remarks. The Description is "Biography" (or you could use "Authority" or something else). And the AltNum field contains the name of the source, in this case VIAF. We currently collect the URLs for VIAF, Library of Congress Authorities, Getty's Union List of Artist Names (ULAN), as well as Wikidata and Wikipedia.

I'm curious how you're harvesting the VIAF urls.

Hello TMS list,

I was wondering where in your Constituents Module you add information from VIAF, etc.? We are looking to start adding that data and were wondering if anyone had suggestions for best practices?

Thank you,

Sylvia,
