Just to add that we have difficulty with this too-
For us, the extra lines appear when exporting images, and also where we have multiple entries for a single dimension type.
We can clean the data for dimensions to address the later, but when exporting a report with images to Excel we have so far not been able to export without seeing the additional lines. It is fairly straight forward to strip out the empty rows a batch at a time and address the count for the objects manually, but not ideal as this can be timely depending on the size of a report. We do however have something we can work with.

Hey Rob,

Believe it or not I’ve had some success with setting the font of fields to extremely small font sizes (like 1pt) so that longer fields like medium etc. take up only one line instead of two. Once in excel you just set the font of all cells to something readable.

It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it sometimes gets you over the edge toward something usable. I don’t know if it would work with images though.

Subject: Exporting Images from Crystal to Excel

Hello everyone,

I have a report that exports images and data from Crystal to Excel.

Any time there is more than one line of text in a field’s value, an extra row is added to Excel. This only happens when exporting from Crystal to Excel with images.

Thus, for this report to work, I have to make the width of the fields very wide, and the font very small, and not check Can Grow. Not an ideal solution ☺.

Does anybody have a fix for this? To prevent the extra rows from appearing in Excel? I know this report would work well in SSRS, however we’re in TMS 2012 and not SSRS compatible, yet.

Thanks,
