Since NMAAHC plans to install the Barcode Manager plug-in to TMS we would not want to duplicate the Container/Crate information as a Component because then two (2) different barcode numbers would be assigned to the same container/crate. Is there any other way to create a location for a Container that has never been associated with an object (in TMS) previously?

Subject: Containers associated with Objects

We have begun to enter Containers/Crates in TMS and I am wondering if there was a way to associate the Container/Crate to an Object when they are in different locations. The only way we know is to create a component but then all the information would have to be re-entered from the Container/Crate Assistant. Most of NMAAHC's paintings are not located in their crates. It seems redundant to have to duplicate this type of information but the Container/Crate Assistant does not have a location authority. Thank you for any assistance you are able to provide; have a great day.

Cheers,
