As Chad says, Conservation Studio uses Flex Fields and Text Entries to provide configurability that every institution can use to support their own terminologies and work flows. Sharing common reporting resources between institutions is supported via the “GS Identifiers” settings in the configuration program, which lets you map your institution’s terms with standardized terminology and IDs. You can create Data Entry Views, Reports, etc. that can be shared by referencing these common IDs.

We are already using this approach to handle commonly-used text fields like Proposal, Treatment and Remarks, as well as checkboxes like Action Required and Action Taken. We plan to build out this feature further in response to what the community is ready to share, and I’d welcome any input (off-list).

Will, because Conservation Studio makes extensive use of Text Entries and Flex Fields to hold the data, there are very few reports that are transferable between institutions/systems.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. ~Chad

Hi all,

For those institutions that use Conservation Studio, does anyone have examples of how they have used the system for analytical work, especially if you have a scientist or science department? If you would be willing to share, please feel free to contact me off list.

I’m also looking for some basic report examples for Conservation Studio – I’m trying to avoid having to start from scratch. Any help in this area would be very appreciated.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all!
