Data Standards Administrator

The Philadelphia Museum of Art seeks a Data Standards Administrator to
maintain consistent data standards throughout TMS. Following standards
set in the TMS Style Guide, this position will work with editorial staff
and curators to prepare object records for publication, our website and
use elsewhere. Using established art authority reference tools (CDWA,
AAT, ULAN, TGN, etc.) the Data Standards Administrator will develop and
maintain controlled vocabularies, authorities, and thesauri, so that
data can be successfully shared with other databases within PMA (such as
Raiser's Edge, the slide library database, the library's online
catalogue, and the archives database), as well as with other
institutions and databases. The administrator will maintain regular
contact with the Manager of Collection Information, registrars, museum
editors, web group staff, library, curatorial departments, education,
and other staff, as well as external data standards organizations and
consortia. This position will also train all new users.

B.A. in art history or related field required; master's degree in
library or information science (or equivalent work experience)
preferred. One to two years' experience in art-historical research or
information science, preferably in a museum, required. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills; strong research and analytical
skills; excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide
variety of staff and outside professionals required.

To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume via the Museum's job
opportunities page at http://www.philamuseum.org/jobs/.
